ARM7
<processor> A RISC microprocessor architecture from Advanced RISC Machines Ltd. (ARM). Building upon the ARM6 family, the goal of the ARM7 design was to offer higher levels of raw compute performance at even lower levels of power consumption. The ARM7 architecture is now (Dec 1994) the most powerful low voltage RISC processor available on the market. The ARM7 offers several architectural extensions which address specific market needs, encompassing fast multiply and innovative embedded ICE support. Software development tools are available. The ARM7 architecture is made up of a core CPU plus a range of system peripherals which can be added to a CPU core to give a complete system on a chip, e.g. 4K or 8K cache, {Memory Management Unit}, Write Buffer, coprocessor interface, ICEbreaker embedded ICE support and JTAG {boundary scan}. The ARM710 microprocessor is built around the ARM7 core. arm7.html">http://systemv.com/armltd/arm7.html. (1995-01-05)

ARM7

ARM7 is a group of 32-bit RISC ARM processor cores licensed by ARM Holdings for microcontroller use. The ARM7 core family consists of ARM700, ARM710, ARM7DI, ARM710a, ARM720T, ARM740T, ARM710T, ARM7TDMI, ARM7TDMI-S, ARM7EJ-S. The ARM7TDMI and ARM7TDMI-S were the most popular cores of the family.

Since ARM7 cores were released from 1993 to 2001, they are no longer recommended for new IC designs; instead ARM Cortex-M or ARM Cortex-R cores are preferred.
